  • Harassment, abuse, bullying, or intimidation of any individual — fellow students, instructors, mentors, or staff
  • Use of offensive, discriminatory, or sexually inappropriate language or content in any official channel
  • Sharing, downloading, or distributing copyrighted course materials, recorded sessions, or proprietary content without explicit written permission
  • Impersonation of any instructor, mentor, or Meritshot representative
  • Fraudulent attendance, submission of work not one's own, or any form of academic dishonesty
  • Disrupting live sessions through noise, off-topic content, or deliberate technical interference
  • Posting defamatory, misleading, or false content about Meritshot, its staff, or fellow students
  • Attempting to hack, exploit, or gain unauthorised access to Meritshot's platforms or systems

Legal Reference: Harassment or cyber-bullying may constitute an offence under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Unauthorised access to computer systems may attract liability under Sections 43 and 66 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

6.3 Consequences of Misconduct

Reported misconduct will be investigated by the Meritshot academic and management team. Depending on severity, consequences may include:

  • Formal warning (written notice)
  • Temporary suspension from platform access
  • Disqualification from placement assistance services
  • Permanent expulsion from the program without refund eligibility (for severe violations)
  • Formal reporting to law enforcement authorities (for criminal conduct)

All investigations will be conducted fairly and with opportunity for the student to present their side before a final decision is made.

6.4 Reporting Misconduct

Students who witness or experience any form of misconduct are encouraged to report it through the following channels:

  • Sending a formal written email to Meritshot's Grievance email address with the subject line "Code of Conduct Complaint"
  • Contacting their assigned mentor or academic coordinator directly
  • Submitting a complaint via the Grievance Redressal process (see Grievance Redressal Policy)

All reports will be treated confidentially to the extent permitted by the investigation process.

6.5 Substance Abuse & Safety

Meritshot is committed to providing a safe and inclusive digital and in-person learning environment. Any student found to be under the influence of substances, engaging in threatening behavior, or creating an unsafe environment during any Meritshot activity will be immediately removed from the session and referred for disciplinary review.
