Tests & Examination Policy

Guidelines for assessments, test conduct, evaluation, and re-attempt rules.

2.1 Purpose of Assessments

Assessments at Meritshot serve to: measure conceptual understanding of program content, evaluate practical application and implementation skills, ensure readiness for industry roles, and monitor student progress for timely academic intervention.

2.2 Types of Assessments

Students may be evaluated through:

  • Module-level quizzes and short tests — post each module to verify concept retention
  • Mid-program assessments — mid-point structured tests
  • Practical assignments and coding challenges — hands-on technical tasks
  • Project reviews — evaluation of project submissions by mentors or an expert panel
  • Mock interviews — simulated HR and technical interview rounds as part of placement preparation
  • Capstone project evaluation — final project assessed before certification

2.3 Test Conduct Rules

During all assessments, the following rules apply:

  • All work must be completed independently — collaboration, external help, or use of unauthorised tools is strictly prohibited
  • Use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) during assessments is not permitted unless explicitly stated
  • Students must not share assessment questions, answers, or content with others — during or after the test
  • Submitting work that is not one's own will be treated as academic dishonesty
  • Students must attempt assessments within the scheduled window — late attempts may not be permitted

Important: Violation of test conduct rules may result in zero marks for the assessment, disqualification from the current module's certification credit, and referral for disciplinary action under the Code of Conduct.

2.4 Evaluation & Feedback

  • All assessments are evaluated by qualified trainers, mentors, or automated systems depending on the assessment type
  • Evaluation results will be communicated within a reasonable timeframe — typically 5–10 business days for manual evaluations
  • Detailed feedback will be provided for project-based assessments to support skill improvement
  • Students may raise a formal re-evaluation request within 7 days of receiving their result if they believe an error occurred in grading

2.5 Re-Attempt Policy

  • For module quizzes: students may be allowed one re-attempt at the discretion of the academic team
  • For project-based assessments: students may resubmit after addressing mentor feedback — resubmissions are treated as standard submissions
  • For capstone project evaluations: one formal re-attempt may be permitted after significant rework, subject to academic team approval
  • Re-attempts may not be available for all assessment types — students will be informed in advance

2.6 Passing Criteria

  • Minimum passing score for quizzes and structured tests: 60% unless otherwise specified
  • Project evaluations are graded on a rubric covering originality, accuracy, presentation, and technical implementation
  • Students who do not meet the minimum criteria after all available attempts may be required to repeat the relevant module or attend additional remedial sessions

2.7 Academic Misconduct in Assessments

Academic misconduct during assessments includes, but is not limited to:

  • Impersonation or proxy attempts
  • Use of unauthorised tools or reference material
  • Sharing of test questions or answers
  • Submission of copied or AI-generated content as original work

Consequences of academic misconduct: immediate invalidation of the affected assessment, formal warning, and in severe or repeated cases, permanent disqualification from certification and placement assistance.
